Ordnance Survey maps, Landranger 50,000 second series. They are taking up too much room, time they all went, any one want serious quantities (have about 11,000 total) for wrapping paper, wall paper etc (get ready for the Christmas season), then give me a ring. All ex-RAF and overprinted with air obstruction information such as pylons and radio masts. All are unfolded flat sheets, they look new (found a few folded, so probably used, but unmarked) and date from mid 80's to the early 90's. Note that while new, they have been stored rolled up so the top and bottom inch or so of the maps has been knocked and crumpled, the actual map is usually ok. Following map sheet numbers available: 1, 2, 5, 8, 29, 32, 33, 45, 58, 61, 64, 65, 76, 77, 88, 96, 98, 103, 104, 109, 111, 125, 131, 132, 139, 140, 143, 144, 147, 153, 154, 155, 156, 157, 158, 170, 171, 175, 178, 179, 181, 185, 189, 190, 197, 198, 201. Ideal for holidays, walking, schools etc where the cost of damaging a map is a problem. If you really want to, use them as wallpaper, only way to afford it. Only a few of some sheets, 100+ of others, minimum postage is around £3, expensive, so try to order several. Each map weighs 80g, a post tube for 30 maps costs £1.50, if you want just one map then send £1.20 in stamps to include folded posting in A4 envelope. Note that 8 maps are the maximum that can be sent by second class post for £2.00, after that it gets expensive until 30 maps costs £9.00 to send. Cost of maps £0.80 each, £0.70 each 30+, £0.60 each 100+, any mix of sheets. If you want lots (250+) of one sheet then ring, only a few sheets in this quantity though.

Coil winder by Ruff for toroidal transformers. Has the split head into which the winding is stored and then transferred to the core. Electric motor with variable speed (looks like a rheostat so probably a shunt motor) driving the winding head, then through a variator type mechanical speed changer to the drive to rotate the core. Missing is some type of control box, which must power the motor, also to give a measure of how much wire has been wound on the head. This isn't really necessary now since a calculator can do the maths. A large heavy unit, will need to collect, also to see if you can cope with getting it working. £150

Very large copper boiler, 18" diameter by 24" high excluding the legs. Gas fired with water pressure regulator feeding a ball cock, level sight glass and pressure gauge reading to 16psi. Lower section has a number of fire tubes, top section just has the single flue with the ball cock and water level sight. Best guess so far is as a steamer for a laundry, possibly for autoclave or similar, obviously designed to produce a continuous supply of low pressure steam. The boiler is almost solid copper, just the foundation ring and bolts at the bottom are steel. It weighs 40kg plus and is in good condition, just the odd dent and bent fitting. Sold as the basis for a splendid ornament if straightened out and polished up, using it as a beam engine boiler is entirely at your risk. £400

Land fibre optic thermometer with 12' of fibre optic lead. Runs from +/-24V DC with 0 to 10V output, was calibrated for measuring brazing temperatures between 600 to 1300 degrees. Fibre optic lead may be more use as a light guide for microscopes etc. £35

Somewhere in there amogst all the lenses and prisms is some optics to rotate and stretch one image. In all about 12" square and 4" high. Used for aligning aerial photos with a map, hence the rotation and zoom/stretching. £90 (2)

Prism assembly with 90 deg and 110 deg angles, displaces the image laterally by 15mm, in rotating metal bracket, aperture 15x8mm.£5

Designed to be mounted in a sloping (about 10 degrees) plate, but if mounted in the roof of a canal or narrow boat then looking up gives the same effect. Mounts using 2 bolts, maximum roof thickness 1.1/4", projects down 3" and up 5.1/2" maximum from mounting surface. Odd chip and scratch on glass, but doesn't affect the view. £10 (20)

3.1/8" o/d by 1.5/16" i/d marked 360 degrees graduated every 20 minutes. £30

2.9/16" o/d by 1.5/16" i/d marked 360 degrees graduated every 20 minutes. £30

3.1/2" o/d by 1.5/16" i/d marked 360 degrees graduated every 20 minutes. £30

The following are etched glass discs from theodolites reading to 1 arc second, note that 6400 mils equal 360 degrees. They are intended to be used with dual reading optics where a reading is referenced against the reading 180 degrees around the disc. The idea of this is that it removes the need to centre the disc to micron accuracy, one thou is good enough.

3.13/16" o/d by 1.15/16" i/d marked 360 degrees graduated every 10 minutes, £60

3.1/8" o/d by 1.5/16" i/d marked 360 degrees graduated every 10 minutes. £60

Lots of lens etc for all types of uses. Note that they are all old, 30+ years, and haven't been used for nearly that long so bit dusty and lens need cleaning. Bigger problem is that any oil used has gone thick and gooey, which makes the shutters in particular rather reluctant to work, will need a good clean. Also note that these are used, there is the odd mark on the lens, if this is important then say so when ordering. The various mounting dimensions need a little interpretation, they are some odd sizes and the thread is difficult to determine on such a short length.

Unidentified make shutter and iris, 53mm dia by 25mm thick, clear aperture 18mm dia, mounting 30mm dia 0.6mm pitch. Shutter is unmarked but has T, B and speeds approx 1/2 to 1/125th second. Alignment telescope by Griffin & George in nice wood box. Base casting with sideways adjustable carriage on which is a vertical column, this carries the sliding carriage with telescope. Telescope about X8 with cross hairs, and can be rotated from horizontal to vertical with scale marked in 2 degree steps. Telescope has a rack and pinion fine focus for use when vertical as a travelling microscope. Shortest focus is about 1m so there must be other, missing, shorter focus objectives to be used as a travelling microscope. Both the side and vertical movement have a slow motion adjustment and are calibrated in millimetres with vernier reading to 0.01mm, vernier magnifier on vertical scale. Might be more use as an ornament since mostly painted and plated brass except for the base casting. £120

Used for the same purpose as a marine sextant, to measure the altitude of stars etc. About 300mm from eyepiece to head with various controls, most important of which allows the angle of the star etc to be measured to 1 minute on a mechanical digital display. Also contains internal lighting, a timer, an 8 step filter selection and a bubble horizon to ensure the sextant is vertical. Comes in nice case with battery unit to illuminate bubble at night. Note that these are regarded as unservicable but the optics are good, not certain exactly what some of the fault reports mean. (12) £140

New line, I can provide copies of various manuals for vehicles and plant, mostly ex-military. The number of pages in each manual varies enourmously, and I haven't actually copied them all for stock since probably never sell most of them. So, if interested then phone, fax or email, if certain information is vital then ask, then I can confirm what I have and the cost. Don't forget that the price of the manual includes my time for copying, plus the cost of paper and toner, and even some profit so won't be £20.
